The University of Salamanca and Albia IMAP signed a collaboration agreement this morning to establish the Albia Family Business Professorship, which will be affiliated with the Multidisciplinary Institute of Enterprise (IME) at the University of Salamanca.

The agreement was presented by Federico Bueno de Mata, Vice-Rector for Knowledge Transfer, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and Fernando Cabos Ortiz de Zárate, partner at Albia, in an event also attended by Julio Pindado, Professor of Financial Economics and Accounting at the University of Salamanca and director of the Chair; Irache Estebaranz, Marketing Director at Albia IMAP; Paco Talora, Director of Corporate Development; and Ricardo Dávila, one of the company’s partners.

The Albia Family Business Professorship will continue the work of supporting family businesses that has been carried out by the IME. Among its main objectives is raising awareness among family businesses so that “they move forward in the professionalization of business management and establish an appropriate framework for the relationship between the family and the business,” as explained by Bueno de Mata.

According to Professor Pindado, thanks to the funding provided by Albia IMAP, the new Professorship will be able to carry out various activities aimed at benefiting family businesses and focused on building capacities in individuals and organizations to maximize their contribution to the economic development of their environment.

These initiatives include organizing informational meetings with family businesses to raise awareness about the importance of addressing their future through open communication with all family members, without ruling out any options; attending regional, national, and international conferences focused on family business; participating in discussion forums that may impact family businesses; as well as organizing business networking activities to support companies and seminars to foster closer ties with the business world, particularly family businesses.

“The Albia Family Business Chair is, ultimately, a project to support family businesses and recognize their contribution to societal well-being. For this reason, the Professorship’s director will also participate in the 12th IME Family Business Award, which will be presented in May 2026 during IME Business Day, as well as in all activities aimed at raising awareness and recognizing the role of family businesses in society,” emphasized its director.

Fernando Cabos, partner at Albia IMAP, added: “We need companies with greater scale and financial strength. The competitiveness of our business fabric depends on the continuity of SMEs. At Albia IMAP, we want to support family businesses in their continuity and growth.”
