AUGUST M&A ACTIVITY

July 30th marks the gateway to the month of August, a traditionally vacation month in our country.

M&A activity in Spain during August has varied over the years. Here are some highlights:

2019: The real estate sector showed significant growth (for example, Merlin Properties made strategic acquisitions).
2020: With the pandemic, M&A activity was generally marked by a decline due to uncertainty, but we remember the acquisition of Grupo MasMovil by KKR, Cinven, and Providence among the notable transactions.
2021: This year was marked by post-pandemic recovery, with M&A activity experiencing a rebound effect.
2022: August 2022 was marked by stability, with Renewable Energy and Technology being the standout sectors.
2023: Continuing the trend of previous years, the Technology sector stood out in August of last year, with examples such as the purchase of Glovo by Delivery Hero, consolidating its presence in the home delivery market.

In short, external factors such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the attractiveness of our country for international investors have been key to the development of M&A activity in August over the past few years.
