In 2025, the value of HealthTech transactions increased globally from £6bn to £15bn (150%+), as highlighted in the recently published Healthcare Technology Sector Report by our UK partners at IMAP – International Mergers and Acquisitions Partnership.
The correction in both the number of transactions and asset valuations in recent years does not represent value destruction per se, but rather a market maturation process aimed at identifying where real value truly lies. Integrated assets with recurring and scalable revenues are now the most highly valued, while stand-alone, project-based solutions with limited scalability have lost appeal.
The report confirms what we have been observing globally: M&A in HealthTech has moved beyond the speculative phase (it is no longer about betting on “the next AI app applied to healthcare”) and entered a more strategic stage, where software, data and AI platforms have become critical infrastructure for both healthcare systems and industry players.
Strategic transactions, led by industry players, are setting the pace in Healthcare Tech M&A, clearly demonstrating the strategic importance of integrating AI platforms, virtual medicine and remote monitoring into core clinical processes.
Financial investors are also highly active, particularly in consolidation processes within highly fragmented verticals such as digital therapeutics and mental health technology.
Spain reflects these same dynamics: a public healthcare system under pressure from quality challenges and budget constraints, a top-tier clinical and scientific base, and a rapidly growing ecosystem in AI applied to diagnostics, clinical trials and hospital management. The question is not whether there will be more transactions, but rather: is your company ready to be acquired or to lead a consolidation project?
